Title Transfers & Quick Titles
North Spokane Vehicle Licensing is the subagency you need to process all title transfers and Quick Titles. Each title transfer is unique and documents required vary.
We handle the following title transactions:
- Private party transfers
- Dealer transfers
- In-State and Out-of-State transfers
- Salvage or auction
- Processing Seller’s Report of Sale
In general, if you’ve purchased a vehicle or vessel from a private owner, you will need the following:
- A title dated and signed by all registered and legal owners. If there’s no title, then you need a notarized Affidavit of Loss Title.
- Bill of Sale stating the sales price
- An odometer statement on vehicles 2011 and newer.
- Be prepared to pay sales tax on sale price if it’s within 80% of retail value determined by the Department of Revenue. Vessels must be within $2,000 of retail value determine by the Department of Revenue.
- Washington State Driver’s License or ID card.
- Check, cash, or debit/credit card.
All Washington State titles must be transferred within 15 days from date of purchase to avoid additional penalties. A $50 penalty is charged on the 16th day and increases $2 per day until it reaches a maximum of $125.
New titles will arrive in the mail within 6-8 weeks from transfer processing date.
Quick Titles:
If you need your title sooner than the typical 6-8 weeks, North Spokane Vehicle Licensing is a Quick Title subagent. Duplicate title $85.50 (includes subagent fees) and change in ownership title fee is $92.
